Aurora's Board deadly on offense in 5-2 win against North York

Aurora Community Centre    Sat, Jan 24, 2015

The Aurora Tigers relied on the scoring touch of Drake Board, who netted two goals, to beat the North York Rangers, 5-2.

Board's tallies came short handed at 11:44 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Aurora and 19:06 into the third to make the score 5-2 Aurora.

North York's power play was ineffective against Aurora's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Rangers were unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and Aurora eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Tigers were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 28 penalty minutes.

Aurora also had goals scored by Noah Delmas, Cameron Morrison, and Liam Neuman, who each put in one. In addition, Aurora received assists from Keaton Ratcliffe, Michael Laidley, and Eric Williams, who each chipped in one.

North York was helped by Will Reilly, who tallied one goal. Reilly scored on the power play 3:04 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A boarding penalty on Sam Quaranta had put the Rangers on the power play. Gabriel Valenzuela picked up the assist. North York also got points from Valenzuela, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for North York came via Zachary Fung, who had one.

Marcus Semiao recorded 19 saves for Aurora. The Tigers registered one goal on five power play opportunities. North York's Gianluca Baggetta stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Rangers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
