Aurora rides Munroe to victory over Newmarket, 4-1

Andy Munroe had a standout game with 25 saves, and the Aurora Tigers beat the Newmarket Hurricanes 4-1.

Aurora was led by Nicholas Erb, who finished with one goal. Erb scored on the power play 19:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Aurora. The Tigers had gotten the advantage when Newmarket's Jonathan Colley was sent off for tripping. Johnny Curran assisted on the tally.

Aurora's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Newmarket power plays. The Hurricanes were unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and Aurora eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Aurora also got points from Curran, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Aurora included Michael Laidley and Eric Williams, who each put in one. More assists for Aurora came via Kyle Locke and Jordan DaSilva, who each chipped in one and Noah Delmas and Cameron Morrison, who contributed two each.

Newmarket's offense operated below its season average. The Hurricanes put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Penalties took their toll on Newmarket, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals.

The Hurricanes were led by Ryan Shaw, who scored the team's only goal. Shaw scored 3:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. Ryan McReynolds picked up the assist.

The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Aurora, Mack Lemmon was ejected from the game. Tyler Richardson rejected 32 shots on goal for Newmarket. The Hurricanes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
