Hamilton downs Stouffville, 6-3

The Stouffville Spirit fell to the Hamilton Red Wings, 6-3.

Hamilton forced Spirit's goaltenders to work between the pipes, getting 35 shots and forcing 29 saves. Conor McCollum made 20 stops and Aaron Taylor made nine. The Red Wings' goal total was higher than their season average. Hamilton averages 3.5 goals per game.

The Red Wings were helped by Giovanni Foschia, who had one goal. Foschia scored 1:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. Nicholas Lepone picked up the assist. Hamilton also got points from Jeff Joynt, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Josh LaFrance, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Hamilton included Rylee St. Onge, Ryan Punkari, and Matt Smith, who scored one goal each. More assists for Hamilton came via Joseph Mitchell, who had two and Jonathan Prasnjak, Jason OConnor, and Matteo Condotta, who each chipped in one.

Stouffville managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Spirit ended up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Stouffville kept Hamilton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordan Cartney made 37 saves on 40 shots.

The Spirit were helped by Spencer Roberts, who registered one goal. Roberts scored 4:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hamilton. Matthew Heffernan provided the assist. Stouffville additionally got points from Heffernan, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brodie Tutton also scored for Stouffville. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Chad Burrows, Christopher Brill-Morgan, and Michael Giacometti, who contributed one each.

The Red Wings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Stouffville registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
