Oakville squeaks by Orangeville, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Oakville Blades escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Orangeville Flyers.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Greg Campbell secured the win for Oakville with a goal in the third period.

The Blades were led by Campbell, who tallied one goal and one assist. Campbell scored on the power play 12:20 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Oakville. Oakville earned a power play opportunity when Ryan Anton was put in the box for roughing. Josh Kosack picked up the assist.

The Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Oakville forced Orangeville goalie Wyatt Pickrell to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. The Blades could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for Oakville included Sean Kohler, Ryan Garvey, and Ross Sloan, who scored one goal each. More assists for Oakville came via Austin Broadhurst, Tanner Shaw, Matthew McLeod, Christian Rajic, Tyler Rollo, and Matt Lippa, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers were helped by Devon Gillham, who had one goal. Gillham scored 9:35 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Connor Stack assisted on the tally. Orangeville also got a goal from Aleks Rapp as well. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Colin Rigney, who had one and James McLaughlin, who had two.

Oakville's Brendan McGlynn stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Blades registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Wyatt Pickrell made 45 saves for Orangeville on 49 shots. The Flyers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
