Stouffville beats Georgetown 4-1 as Tutton gets hat trick

Brodie Tutton netted a hat trick to lead the Stouffville Spirit over the Georgetown Raiders, 4-1.

Tutton's first goal came 6:48 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:37 into the third and at 19:09 into the third.

Stouffville's Aaron Taylor was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 32 saves and let only one puck past him. Taylor certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.95 entering the contest.

The Spirit managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Stouffville ended up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. Georgetown was unable to stop the Spirit from sending pucks towards the net, and Stouffville eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Stouffville also got points from Matthew Heffernan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Nick Thomakos, who had two and Chad Burrows and Nathan Hudgin, who contributed one each.

The Raiders were held below their usual level of production. Georgetown averages 3.7 goals per game. The Raiders' offense rang up 33 shots on the Spirit's net.

Georgetown was led by Steve Hladin, who scored the team's only goal. Hladin scored 3:06 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Anthony Marra assisted on the tally.

Stouffville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Jack LaFontaine rejected 28 shots on goal for the Raiders. Georgetown incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
