Wellington's McKeown deadly on offense in 7-1 win against Milton

Joe McKeown was all over the ice for the Wellington Dukes, as he tallied two goals in Wellington's 7-1 win over the Milton Icehawks.

McKeown found the back of the net 13:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 3:52 into the second to make the score 2-1 Wellington.

The Dukes forced Icehawks' goalies to work without much rest, finishing with 52 shots and forcing 45 saves. Scott Smith made 32 stops and Cosimo Lazzarino made 13. Wellington outdid its season average for goals scored. The Dukes average 3.2 goals per game.

Wellington also got points from Luc Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Marco Azzano, who also had one goal and one assist, and Abbott Girduckis, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Josh Supryka also scored for Wellington. In addition, Wellington received assists from Nicolais Gomerich, who had one, Conner Judson, who had two, and Will Cook, who had four.

Milton stifled Wellington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Icehawks were led by Sean Perichak, who scored the team's only goal. Perichak scored 7:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Milton. Sean Robertson assisted on the tally.

Olivier Lafreniere recorded 22 saves for the Dukes. Wellington incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Dukes ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jacob Hetherington was ejected from the game. Milton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
