Trenton holds on for 6-4 win against Mississauga

The Mississauga Chargers tried to dig themselves out of a five-goal hole, but the Trenton Golden Hawks held on for a 6-4 victory.

A goal by Liam Morgan put Trenton up 6-1 in the third period, but Mississauga pulled to within two on Stefano Alonzi's tally 19:57 into the third period.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:15 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Golden Hawks' offense rang up 39 shots on the Chargers' net. Trenton was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time.

The Golden Hawks were helped by Brady Wiffen, who finished with one goal and one assist. Wiffen scored 10 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Zach de Concilys picked up the assist. Trenton also had goals scored by Hunter Fargey, who had two and Loren Ulett and Danny Liscio, who scored one goal each. In addition, Trenton received assists from Matt Pizzo, who had two and Tyler Donaldson, Blayne Oliver, Michael Siddall, Bobby Polachek, and Chrisitian Lloyd, who contributed one each.

Mississauga's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Chargers surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game.

Mississauga was led by Thomas Lattavo, who had one goal and one assist. Lattavo scored 7:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. Joseph Molinaro provided the assist. Others who scored for Mississauga included Phillip Chadder and Scott Docherty, who each put in one. More assists for Mississauga came via Nicholas Palumbo, Zach Sternbach, and Troy taylor, who each chipped in two.

Trenton's Riley Brown stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Golden Hawks registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Trenton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Morgan was ejected from the game. Alex Lepore rejected 33 shots on goal for the Chargers. Mississauga registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For the Chargers, Ryan Markovic was ejected from the game.
