Pickrell stymies Oakville, Orangeville wins 2-1

The Orangeville Flyers relied on the sparkling performance of Wyatt Pickrell in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Oakville Blades.

Orangeville was led by Aleks Rapp, who tallied one goal and one assist. Rapp scored 19:49 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Orangeville. Colin Rigney assisted on the tally.

The Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Oakville power plays. Oakville was unable to stop Orangeville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Orangeville additionally got points from Rigney, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were John DiLorenzo and James McLaughlin, who contributed one each.

The Blades stifled Orangeville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Oakville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blades put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. Oakville's offense rang up 34 shots on the Flyers' net.

The Blades were led by Austin Broadhurst, who scored the team's only goal. Broadhurst scored 2:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville. Greg Campbell picked up the assist.

Pickrell rejected 33 shots on goal for Orangeville. The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Daniel Mannella recorded 37 saves for Oakville. The Blades incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
