Orangeville stifles Lindsay's comeback, gains 6-4 victory

The Lindsay Muskies almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Orangeville Flyers managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end.

Orangeville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Flyers' Darren Nesbitt scored at 2:14 in the second period to put Orangeville up 5-2.

The Flyers forced Muskies' netminders to work in net, firing 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Brett Chandler made nine stops and Boyd Diclemente made 19. Orangeville found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Flyers average 3.3 goals per game. Team could not crack Lindsay's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Orangeville was helped by Aleks Rapp, who finished with one goal and two assists. Rapp scored on the power play 53 seconds into the second period to make the score 4-2 Orangeville. A head contact penalty on Michael Spataro had put the Flyers on the power play. James McLaughlin provided the assist. Orangeville additionally got points from Colin Rigney, who also had one goal and two assists and McLaughlin, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Orangeville also had goals scored by Lucas Smilsky and Derek Topatigh, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Connor Stack, Kosta Likourezos, and Ian Nichols, who contributed one each.

Orangeville was unable to stop the Muskies from sending pucks towards the net, and Lindsay eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

The Muskies were led by Logan DeNoble, who registered one goal and two assists. DeNoble scored 13:45 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Orangeville. Cameron Stajer picked up the assist. Lindsay also got points from Stajer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lindsay included Brandon Washer and Keegan Cairns, who each put in one. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Mackenzie Heber and Jack Scanlan, who each chipped in one.

Wyatt Pickrell made 34 saves for the Flyers on 38 shots. Orangeville incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Lindsay incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
