The Newmarket Hurricanes had trouble finding ways to stop the Stouffville Spirit, which beat Hurricanes, 5-2. Stouffville's offense rang up 35 shots on Newmarket's net. The Spirit were helped by Nathan Hudgin, who racked up one goal. Hudgin scored 10:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Chad Burrows provided the assist. Stouffville also got points from Brodie Tutton, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Burrows, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stouffville included Spencer Roberts and Robert Clark, who each put in one. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Jordan Nesbitt, Matthew Dunlop, and Michael Giacometti, who contributed one each and Matthew Heffernan and Nick Thomakos, who each chipped in two. The Hurricanes forced Stouffville goalie Aaron Taylor to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Newmarket was led by Cameron Nicoll, who registered one goal. Nicoll scored 4:25 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Stouffville. Nick Boddy assisted on the tally. Ryan Young also scored for Newmarket. More assists for Newmarket came via Mitchell Duggan and Curtis Harvey, who contributed one each. The Spirit's Taylor stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Stouffville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tyler Richardson rejected 30 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Newmarket incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
