Georgetown survives Buffalo comeback, wins 4-3The Harbor Center Wed, Jan 07, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Georgetown Raiders came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, but did just enough to escape with a 4-3 victory. Georgetown led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Raiders' Scott Emerson scored at 5:45 in the second period to put Georgetown up 3-0. Steve Hladin had two goals to lead the Raiders to victory. Hladin found the back of the net 4:13 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown and again while 15:39 into the third to make the score 4-3 Georgetown. Georgetown managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Raiders wound up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Georgetown additionally got points from Gavin Shantz, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Emerson, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Carmine Alberga, Liam Clare, and John Adams, who contributed one each. Buffalo was led by Josh Gabriel, who racked up two goals and one assist. Gabriel scored the first of his two goals at 7:50 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Georgetown. Gabriel's next tally made the score 3-3 with 15:55 left in the third period. Ryan Kuhn assisted on the tally. Buffalo also got points from Kuhn, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Buffalo came via Aiden Salerno and Christopher Berger, who each chipped in one. Marc Williams rejected 25 shots on goal for Georgetown. The Raiders registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Nate Skidmore recorded 26 saves for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-1 with the man advantage.
