Milton erases deficit to stun Burlington, 6-5

The Milton Icehawks rallied from two goals down to secure a 6-5 win over the Burlington Cougars.

Milton never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Icehawks trailed 5-3 after a goal by Burlington's Wyatt Trainer at 19:58 in the second period. Milton tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Jordan Anderson at 18:10 in the third period. The Icehawks netted the game winner at 19:23 in the third period on a goal by Anderson.

Milton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Icehawks have scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Milton was led by Ryan Taylor, who finished with three goals. Milton also got a goal from Anthony Baxter as well. In addition, Milton received assists from Jack Landry, Johnathon Schaefer, Adam Burnett, Sean Perichak, Kevin Hu, Mitch Rooney, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Michael Martellacci, and Chris Cobham, who each chipped in one.

The Cougars' offense rang up 33 shots on the Icehawks' net. Burlington bested its season scoring average. The Cougars average 2.7 goals per game.

Burlington was helped by Jack Jeffers, who grabbed one goal. Jeffers scored 23 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Burlington. David Thomson assisted on the tally. Burlington additionally got points from Thomson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Kyle West, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Trainer, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Willy Paul also scored for Burlington. More assists for Burlington came via Ben Scheel, Spencer Herbst, Matt Holmes, and Dante Felicetti, who contributed one each.

Scott Smith rejected 28 shots on goal for Milton. The Icehawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Joe Noonan made 23 saves for the Cougars on 28 shots. Burlington incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
