Oakville's comeback falls short, Toronto Jr. Canadiens wins 2-0

The Oakville Blades almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens managed to pull out a 2-0 win in the end.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Junior Canadiens' Anthony Repaci scored at 19:53 in the third period to put Toronto Jr. Canadiens up 3-0.

The Junior Canadiens were boosted by Nathan Colitto, who turned in a shutout with 34 saves. The solid play of Colitto will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.28.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens' penalty kill excelled, as the Junior Canadiens gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens stifled Oakville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Junior Canadiens' defense was surprisingly good. Toronto Jr. Canadiens allows 2.6 goals per game.

The Junior Canadiens were led by Justin Maiolino, who had one goal. Maiolino scored 4:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Repaci picked up the assist. Toronto Jr. Canadiens also got points from Repaci, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Toronto Jr. Canadiens also got a goal from Aaron Spivak as well. More assists for Toronto Jr. Canadiens came via Michael Cuddemi, who had one.

The Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Oakville was held below its usual level of production. The Blades put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Oakville's offense rang up 34 shots on Toronto Jr. Canadiens' net.

The Junior Canadiens ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Toronto Jr. Canadiens, Andrew Mullen was ejected from the game. The Blades' Daniel Mannella stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Oakville ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. The Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Paul Butler was ejected from the game.
