GAME RECAP

Siddall's hat trick boosts Trenton over Hamilton, 6-1

Mountain Arena    Mon, Dec 22, 2014

Michael Siddall netted a hat trick to lead the Trenton Golden Hawks over the Hamilton Red Wings, 6-1.

Siddall's first goal came 6:01 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:31 into the second and at 13:45 into the second.

Hamilton was stymied by Trenton's netminder Justin Kapelmaster, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. The solid play of Kapelmaster will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.18.

The Golden Hawks forced Red Wings' netminders to work between the pipes, launching 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. Brayden Lachance made 16 stops and Jordan Cartney made 21. Trenton stifled the Red Wings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Golden Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Trenton also got a goal from Brady Wiffen as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Zach de Concilys, who had three, Christian DiFelice, Tyler Donaldson, Matt Pizzo, and Braden Hellems, who each chipped in one, and Danny Liscio and Chrisitian Lloyd, who contributed two each.

Hamilton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Red Wings did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Hamilton puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. Trenton was unable to stop the Red Wings from sending pucks towards the net, and Hamilton eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

The Red Wings incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
