Oakville survives North York comeback, wins 6-4

The Oakville Blades, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the North York Rangers and clinched a 6-4 victory.

Oakville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Blades' Christian Rajic scored at 14:04 in the third period to put Oakville up 5-2.

North York's power play was ineffective against the Blades' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Oakville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The Blades surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Oakville forced the Rangers goalie Gianluca Baggetta to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Blades' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Oakville averages 3.9 goals per contest. The Blades had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 11 chances.

Oakville was led by Tanner Shaw, who registered one goal and two assists. Shaw scored on the power play 16:13 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Oakville. Jackson Bales picked up the assist. Oakville additionally got points from Max Lindsay, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Oakville also had goals scored by Brandon Hughes, Sean Kohler, and Matt Lippa, who each put in one. More assists for Oakville came via Ryan Burns, who had two and Greg Campbell, Josh Kosack, and Ross Sloan, who contributed one each.

North York was often in penalty trouble, totaling 12 minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The Rangers had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Blades were unable to stop North York from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

North York was led by Ted Hunt, who racked up one goal and two assists. Hunt scored on the power play 18:36 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Oakville. North York also got points from Michael Morgan, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North York included Ryan Takamatsu and Will Reilly, who scored one goal each. In addition, North York received assists from Gabriel Valenzuela, Anthony Paveglio, and Luke Kutkevicius, who each chipped in one.

Oakville's Brendan McGlynn stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. For the Blades, Kamil Tkaczuk and Burns were ejected from the contest. Gianluca Baggetta made 31 saves for the Rangers on 36 shots. For North York, Matthew Whittaker was ejected from the game.
