The Trenton Golden Hawks had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-0 win over the Wellington Dukes. Trenton's penalty kill excelled, as the Golden Hawks gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Trenton was led by Robert Smythe, who racked up one goal. Smythe scored 19:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Braden Hellems picked up the assist. The Golden Hawks stifled Wellington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Trenton was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Golden Hawks average 2.6 goals allowed per game. Trenton forced the Dukes goalie Taylor Welsh to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Golden Hawks' goal total was higher than their season average. Trenton averages 4.8 goals per game. The defensemen of the Golden Hawks were also effective in Wellington's zone, and came away with two goals. Trenton was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 34 penalty minutes. Trenton additionally got points from Christian DiFelice, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Kevin Lavoie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Danny Liscio, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Zach de Concilys, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Trenton also had goals scored by Tyler Donaldson, Loren Ulett, and Chrisitian Lloyd, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Liam Morgan, Matt Pizzo, Nick Santoro, and Brady Wiffen, who each chipped in one and Blayne Oliver and Hunter Fargey, who contributed two each. The Dukes did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Wellington puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Dukes' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to the Golden Hawks' power play unit. Wellington's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Dukes finished with 24 penalty minutes. Justin Kapelmaster made 19 saves for Trenton on 19 shots. Welsh recorded 24 saves for Wellington.
