Pickering downs Newmarket in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Daniel Butchart gave the Pickering Panthers a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Newmarket Hurricanes when he scored 4:32 into the extra period.

Pickering got the win on the strength of a great game by BJ Salerno, who had two goals and one assist. Salerno scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:28 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. An interference penalty on Mitchell Duggan had put the Panthers on the power play. Riley Devine provided the assist. Salerno's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Pickering with 9:33 left in the second period. Mitch Emerson picked up the assist.

Pickering forced Newmarket goalie Connor Ryckman to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Pickering additionally got points from Butchart, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Mark Tenuta, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Doug Carter also scored for Pickering. More assists for Pickering came via Cam Palmer and Chris Sekelyk, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers were unable to stop the Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Newmarket eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Hurricanes were helped by Joseph Mizzi, who registered one goal. Mizzi scored 5:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jonathan Colley provided the assist. Newmarket also got points from Ryan Shaw, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Newmarket also got a goal from Sam Hu as well. Other players who recorded assists for Newmarket were Nick Boddy, Marty Lawlor, and Anthony Salemi, who contributed one each.

Austin Washkurak rejected 28 shots on goal for Pickering. The Panthers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ryckman recorded 27 saves for Newmarket. The Hurricanes incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
