Aurora hangs on, beats Trenton 4-2Aurora Community Centre Sat, Dec 13, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Daniel Mantenuto gave the Aurora Tigers the lead in the first period, and the Trenton Golden Hawks was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2. Aurora took over the lead for good with a goal by Mantenuto at 18:27 in the first period. A slashing penalty on Zach de Concilys had put the Tigers on the power play. Eric Williams picked up the assist.Mantenuto had a great game for Aurora, netting two goals. Trenton's power play was ineffective against the Tigers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Aurora struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Aurora also got points from Keaton Ratcliffe, who also registered one goal and one assist and Williams, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Aurora came via Jordan DaSilva, Nolan Dunn, Cameron Morrison, and Nicholas Erb, who contributed one each. The Golden Hawks were held below their usual level of production. Trenton puts an average of 4.7 pucks into the net per game. The Golden Hawks kept the Tigers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andy Munroe made 34 saves on 36 shots. Trenton was helped by Tyler Donaldson, who had one goal. Donaldson scored on the power play 12:50 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. The Golden Hawks had gotten the advantage when Aurora's Sam Quaranta was sent off for head contact. Hunter Fargey assisted on the tally. Christian DiFelice also scored for Trenton. In addition, Trenton received assists from Andrew Pizzo, who had one. The Tigers registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Trenton's Justin Kapelmaster stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Golden Hawks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
