Whitby boosted by Cain's play in net, beats Milton 3-1

Austin Cain had a standout game with 27 saves, and the Whitby Fury beat the Milton Icehawks 3-1.

Whitby was led by Davis Kuksis, who registered one goal and one assist. Kuksis scored on the power play 12:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Whitby. The Fury had gained a power play chance when Johnathon Schaefer was whistled for high sticking. Zack Elson provided the assist.

Milton was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Fury eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Whitby additionally got points from Ryan Erickson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Whitby also got a goal from Stefan von Engelbrechten as well. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Scott Kirton and Kevin Dimagno, who each chipped in one.

The Icehawks were led by Sean Perichak, who scored the team's only goal. Perichak scored 16:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mitch Rooney picked up the assist.

Whitby incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Scott Smith recorded 42 saves for Milton. The Icehawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Milton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brendan Doherty was ejected from the game.
