Kingston's Stothart deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Burlington

Alex Stothart had two goals to lead the Kingston Voyageurs to a 5-2 victory over the Burlington Cougars.

Stothart's tallies came at 5:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kingston and 9:02 into the first to make the score 3-0 Kingston.

Kingston forced Cougars' goalies to work in net, totaling 46 shots and forcing 41 saves. Joe Noonan made nine stops and Cammeron Radford made 32. The Voyageurs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Burlington to score on any of its four power plays.

Kingston additionally got points from Joey Beaudoin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kingston included Colin Tonge and Dorian Overland, who scored one goal each. More assists for Kingston came via Ryan Watson, Brandon Nadeau, Adam Moodie, Michael Crocock, Cole Bolton, Rory McGuire, and Spencer Green, who contributed one each.

The Cougars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Burlington forced Kingston goalie Matt Penta to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Matt Penta made 35 saves for the Voyageurs on 37 shots. Kingston incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cougars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
