A stellar performance between the pipes by Connor Ryckman helped the Newmarket Hurricanes defeat the Aurora Tigers, 5-1. Newmarket was led by Christian Dedonato, who finished with one goal. Dedonato scored on the power play 5:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Newmarket. The Hurricanes had gotten the advantage when Aurora's Keaton Ratcliffe was sent off for holding. Ryan Shaw assisted on the tally. Newmarket's offense rang up 37 shots on the Tigers' net. The Hurricanes got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Newmarket also got points from Shaw, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Anthony Salemi, who also registered one goal and one assist. Newmarket also had goals scored by Mitchell Duggan and Dallas Baird, who each put in one. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Marty Lawlor, who had two and Sam Hu, Jonathan Colley, Ryan Young, and Jacob Piltzmaker, who each chipped in one. Aurora could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Tigers put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Aurora kept Newmarket's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryckman made 36 saves on 37 shots. The Tigers' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Aurora averages 2.4 goals allowed per game. The Tigers were led by Cameron Morrison, who scored the team's only goal. Morrison scored 12:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jordan DaSilva picked up the assist. The Hurricanes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Andy Munroe recorded 32 saves for Aurora. The Tigers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
