Georgetown blows out Hamilton, 6-0

The Georgetown Raiders were firing on all cylinders against the Hamilton Red Wings, and when the final buzzer sounded Raiders emerged with a 6-0 win.

Georgetown pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

The Raiders were led by Blake Jones, who racked up one goal. Jones scored 12:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Steve Hladin assisted on the tally.

Georgetown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Hamilton to score on any of its seven power plays. The Raiders' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Red Wings. Georgetown averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. Hamilton was unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Georgetown eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Raiders bested their season scoring average. This season, Georgetown averages 3.7 goals per contest.

Georgetown additionally got points from Hladin, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Georgetown included Anthony Marra, Francois Cote, Brendan Jacome, and Kyle Allan, who scored one goal each. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Jake Clements, who had two and Jordan Brown, Liam Clare, John Adams, and Andrew Court, who each chipped in one.

The Red Wings' offense operated below their season average. Hamilton averages 3.4 goals per game. The Red Wings found themselves short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

Marc Williams made 16 saves for the Raiders on 16 shots. Jordan Cartney rejected 34 shots on goal for Hamilton.
