Hamilton outlasts Orangeville, 4-3

The Hamilton Red Wings and the Orangeville Flyers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Hamilton made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Joseph Mitchell secured the win for the Red Wings with a goal in the second period.

Orangeville's power play was ineffective against Hamilton's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Red Wings were sparked by Erick Delaurentis, who had one goal and one assist. Delaurentis scored 19:05 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Hamilton. Anthony Lisi assisted on the tally.

Hamilton forced the Flyers goalie Wyatt Pickrell to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

Hamilton also got points from Josh LaFrance, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Hamilton also got a goal from Ryan Punkari as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Jason OConnor, Alexander Carlson, and Matt Smith, who each chipped in one.

Orangeville kept the Red Wings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordan Cartney made 42 saves on 45 shots.

The Flyers were led by Ian Nichols, who finished with one goal and one assist. Nichols scored on the power play 6:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Orangeville. Orangeville had gained a power play chance when Lisi was whistled for slashing. Lucas Smilsky picked up the assist. Orangeville also had goals scored by Colin Rigney and Connor Stack, who each put in one. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Adam Giacomin, Ryan Anton, and Christopher Sciammarella, who contributed one each.

Hamilton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Red Wings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeff Joynt was ejected from the game. Pickrell recorded 43 saves for the Flyers. Orangeville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For the Flyers, Rigney was ejected from the game.
