Cobourg rides Lewis to victory over Pickering, 6-1Cobourg Community Centre Mon, Dec 01, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cobourg Cougars relied on the sparkling performance of Tyler Lewis in net to grab a 6-1 win against the Pickering Panthers. Cobourg's penalty kill excelled, as the Cougars gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Cobourg was led by Connor Hogg, who tallied one goal and one assist. Hogg scored 18:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cobourg. Cole Langan picked up the assist. The Cougars stifled Pickering's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cobourg bested its season scoring average. The Cougars average 3.2 goals per game. Cobourg additionally got points from Connor Armour, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Cobourg included Rylee McKinnon, Jake Baird, Spencer Holt, and Dawson Theede, who scored one goal each. More assists for Cobourg came via Liam Grande, Mitchell Gibson, Matt Carroll, Alex Riche, Austin Veleke, Taylor Gauld, and Theo Lewis, who each chipped in one. The Panthers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cobourg to score on any of its four power plays. Pickering did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Panthers put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. The Cougars were unable to stop Pickering from sending pucks towards the net, and the Panthers eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Tyler Lewis made 36 saves for Cobourg on 37 shots. The Cougars incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Eric Pitcher rejected 23 shots on goal for Pickering. The Panthers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
