Cobourg wins tough contest against Toronto Patriots, 3-2

The game between the Cobourg Cougars and the Toronto Patriots Patriots was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Cobourg emerged with a 3-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Connor Hogg's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Hogg was all over the ice for the Cougars, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Cobourg's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Toronto Patriots power plays.

Jake Baird also scored for Cobourg. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Ryan OGrady, who had two and Josh Hopkin and Taylor Gauld, who contributed one each.

Toronto Patriots excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Cougars were unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto Patriots eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Patriots were helped by Nicholas Ursitti, who grabbed one goal. Ursitti scored 9:08 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Connor Beck assisted on the tally. Toronto Patriots also got a goal from Jacob Hayhurst as well. In addition, Toronto Patriots received assists from Brett Markham, who had one.

Cobourg's Tyler Lewis stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Cougars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mathew Robson made 27 saves for Toronto Patriots on 30 shots. The Patriots incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Toronto Patriots, Hayhurst was ejected from the game.
