Pickering beats Lindsay 4-0 as Washkurak gains shutoutLindsay Recreation Centre Fri, Nov 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Austin Washkurak made 34 saves to complete the shutout and led the Pickering Panthers to a 4-0 win against the Lindsay Muskies. Pickering's penalty kill excelled, as the Panthers gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. Pickering was sparked by Cam Palmer, who had one goal. Palmer scored on the power play 11:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. The Panthers earned a power play opportunity when James Allen was put in the box for cross checking. Lucas Condotta assisted on the tally. Pickering stifled Lindsay's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Muskies were unable to stop the Panthers from sending pucks towards the net, and Pickering eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Panthers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. Mark Tenuta also scored for Pickering. In addition, Pickering received assists from Doug Carter, Dalton Lawrence, Matteo Condotta, and Riley Devine, who each chipped in one. Lindsay did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Muskies average 2.8 goals per game. Lindsay forced Pickering goalie Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Panthers registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Boyd Diclemente rejected 29 shots on goal for the Muskies. Lindsay incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
