North York blows out St. Michaels, 4-1

The North York Rangers had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the St. Michaels Buzzers.

St. Michaels was stymied by North York's netminder Gianluca Baggetta, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Baggetta certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.09 entering the contest.

The Rangers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

North York's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven St. Michaels power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Rangers were helped by Nick Zanette, who finished with one goal. Zanette scored 12:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North York. Jake Harris picked up the assist. North York also got points from Jeremy Szabo, who also had one goal and one assist, Zachary Fung, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Max Novick, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, North York received assists from Michael Morgan, Christian Zanetti, and Matthew Whittaker, who each chipped in one.

The Buzzers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as St. Michaels finished with 24 penalty minutes.

The Buzzers were led by Thomas Beretta, who scored the team's only goal. Beretta scored 1:43 into the second period to make the score 3-1 North York. Scott Teskey provided the assist.

North York registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. St. Michaels' George Argiropoulos stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. For the Buzzers, Beretta and Troy Oakley were ejected from the contest.
