Whitby rolls over Pickering, 7-3

The Whitby Fury were firing on all cylinders against the Pickering Panthers, and when the final buzzer sounded Fury emerged with a 7-3 win.

Nik Coric was all over the ice for Whitby, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Coric scored 2:00 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Whitby. Justin Brand picked up the assist.

The Fury kept Pickering's goalie busy throughout the game, and Austin Washkurak made 26 saves on 33 shots. Whitby's goal total was higher than its season average. The Fury average 4.1 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Whitby could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Whitby also got points from Davis Kuksis, who also registered one goal and two assists. Whitby also had goals scored by Dakota Kettrick, who had two and Austin Fischer, Matt Fischer, and Jeremy Wu, who scored one goal each. More assists for Whitby came via Kevin Dimagno, who had three, Zack Elson and Stefan von Engelbrechten, who contributed one each, and William Ward and Scott Kirton, who each chipped in two.

The Panthers were led by Matteo Condotta, who racked up one goal and one assist. Condotta scored on the power play 16:39 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Whitby. A high sticking penalty on Kuksis had put Pickering on the power play. Chris Sekelyk provided the assist. Others who scored for Pickering included Doug Carter and BJ Salerno, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Brian Hurley, who had two and Mitch Emerson and Mark Tenuta, who contributed one each.

Tyler Feaver made 23 saves for the Fury on 26 shots. Whitby registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Fury, Dimagno was ejected from the game. The Panthers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
