Huge game by Bean boosts Wellington over Newmarket, 5-2

The Wellington Dukes' Justin Bean had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Newmarket Hurricanes.

Bean scored on the power play at 9:32 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wellington and again while 7:36 into the third to make the score 3-1 Wellington.

Wellington forced Newmarket goalie Tyler Richardson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Dukes' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Wellington also got points from Luc Brown, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Wellington included Greg Smith and Abbott Girduckis, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Will Cook, who had two and Marco Azzano, Joe McKeown, Ben Sokay, and Nick Devito, who each chipped in one.

The Hurricanes were led by Anthony Salemi, who finished with two goals. Salemi scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:21 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wellington. Newmarket earned a power play opportunity when McKeown was put in the box for high sticking. Adam Smith assisted on the tally. Salemi's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Wellington with 32 seconds left in the third period. The Hurricanes had gotten the advantage when Wellington's McKeown was sent off for slashing. Mackenzie OMahony provided the assist. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Christian Dedonato and Dallas Baird, who contributed one each.

Taylor Welsh rejected 26 shots on goal for the Dukes. Wellington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Newmarket's Richardson stopped 26 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Hurricanes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
