Stouffville beats Toronto Jr. Canadiens 2-1 after comeback scare

The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Stouffville Spirit held on for a 2-1 victory.

A goal by Brodie Tutton put Stouffville up 2-0 in the second period, but Toronto Jr. Canadiens pulled to within one on Kennedy Duguid's tally 2:18 into the third period.

The Spirit were led by goalie Aaron Taylor, who finished with 39 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Taylor will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.41.

Stouffville's penalty kill excelled, as the Spirit gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Stouffville stifled the Junior Canadiens' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Stouffville also got a goal from Nathan Hudgin as well. More assists for Stouffville came via Spencer Roberts, Chad Burrows, and Matthew Dunlop, who contributed one each.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens' offense operated below its season average. The Junior Canadiens put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Spirit were unable to stop Toronto Jr. Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Canadiens eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Anthony Trujillo, who had one.

Stouffville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Nathan Colitto recorded 22 saves for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. The Junior Canadiens incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
