Wellington blows out Georgetown, 5-1Wellington CC Fri, Nov 14, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wellington Dukes had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Georgetown Raiders. Joe McKeown was all over the ice for Wellington, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. McKeown scored 6:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Will Cook picked up the assist. Georgetown was stymied by the Dukes' netminder Olivier Lafreniere, who stopped 35 shots during the victory. The solid play of Lafreniere will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.0. Wellington forced Raiders' netminders to work all game long, taking 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Marc Williams made seven stops and Jack LaFontaine made 20. Wellington also got points from Brody Morris, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Cook, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Luc Brown also scored for Wellington. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Jacob Hetherington, Marco Azzano, and Wes St Amand, who contributed one each. The Raiders did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Georgetown averages 3.7 goals per game. The Raiders forced the Dukes goalie Lafreniere to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Georgetown gave up more goals than its normal season average. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Allan was ejected from the game.
