Cobourg rolls over Lindsay, 3-0

The Lindsay Muskies had trouble finding ways to stop the Cobourg Cougars, which beat Muskies, 3-0.

Cobourg was led by Ryan Taylor, who finished with one goal. Taylor scored 13:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Liam Grande assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:52 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Cougars featured an improved defense during the game. Cobourg allows 2.5 goals per game. The Cougars forced Lindsay goalie Boyd Diclemente to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Cobourg additionally got points from Mitchell Gibson, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Connor Hogg also scored for Cobourg. More assists for Cobourg came via Jacob Friend, Spencer Holt, Dawson Theede, and Taylor Gauld, who contributed one each.

The Muskies' offense operated below their season average. Lindsay puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game.

Stefano Durante made 19 saves for Cobourg on 19 shots. The Cougars totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Cobourg, Rylee McKinnon was ejected from the game. Diclemente recorded 34 saves for the Muskies. Lindsay totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. The Muskies ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Keegan Cairns was ejected from the game.
