Joseph Deveny netted a hat trick to lead the Stouffville Spirit over the Hamilton Red Wings, 7-4. Deveny notched his first tally 7:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:05 into the second and at 13:35 into the third.Stouffville forced Hamilton's goaltenders to work without much rest, finishing with 44 shots and forcing 37 saves. Mark Sinclair made 29 stops and Alexander Bishop made eight. The Spirit excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Stouffville bested its season scoring average. The Spirit average 4.0 goals per game. Stouffville additionally got points from Matthew Heffernan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Alex Gilmour also scored for Stouffville. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Matthew Dunlop, who had two and Spencer Roberts, Chad Burrows, Robert Clark, Christopher Brill-Morgan, James Mense-Dietrich, Brock Traill, Cameron Lintner, Michael Giacometti, Nathan Hudgin, and Nick Thomakos, who contributed one each. The Red Wings' offense rang up 33 shots on Stouffville's net. Hamilton was helped by Alex Zaccaria, who tallied one goal. Zaccaria scored 19:13 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Stouffville. Joel Knight picked up the assist. Hamilton also got points from Knight, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Conor McCollum made 29 saves for the Spirit on 33 shots. Stouffville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Spirit ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brodie Tutton was ejected from the game. The Red Wings ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Hamilton, Erick Delaurentis was ejected from the game.
