Curran nets hat trick, leads Aurora to 9-2 win over Burlington

A hat trick by Johnny Curran was the highlight in Tigers' 9-2 win against the Burlington Cougars.

Curran notched his first tally 5:26 into the second period. He then added goals at 19:43 into the second and at 15:35 into the third.

The Aurora Tigers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Burlington power plays. Aurora kept Burlington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Joe Noonan made 45 saves on 54 shots. The Tigers outdid their season average for goals scored. Aurora has scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign. The Tigers got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Aurora additionally got points from Liam Neuman, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Eric Williams also scored for Aurora. More assists for Aurora came via Drake Board, who had three, Callum Fryer, Noah Delmas, Michael Laidley, Mitchell Duggan, and Todd Winder, who each chipped in one, and Daniel Mantenuto and Nolan Dunn, who contributed two each.

The Cougars were helped by David Thomson, who grabbed two goals. Thomson scored the first of his two goals at 11:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Steve Mariani assisted on the tally. Thomson's next tally made the score 6-2 Aurora with 18:12 left in the third period. Michael Alberga picked up the assist. In addition, Burlington received assists from Kyle West, who had two.

Andy Munroe made 17 saves for Aurora on 19 shots. The Tigers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Burlington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
