Trenton blows out Whitby, 7-2Duncan Memorial Fri, Nov 07, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Trenton Golden Hawks had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Whitby Fury. Trenton got the win thanks to a great game by Blayne Oliver, who had two goals and one assist. Oliver scored the first of his two goals at 19:50 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. Tyler Donaldson picked up the assist. Oliver's next tally made the score 7-2 Trenton with 1:46 left in the third period. Hunter Fargey provided the assist. The Golden Hawks forced Whitby goalie Tyler Feaver to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Trenton found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Golden Hawks average 4.9 goals per game. Trenton got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Trenton additionally got points from Fargey, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Robert Smythe, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Trenton included Christian DiFelice, Braden Hellems, and Brady Wiffen, who scored one goal each. More assists for Trenton came via Liam Morgan, Loren Ulett, Chrisitian Lloyd, Zach de Concilys, and Aidan Parker, who contributed one each and Kevin Lavoie and Danny Liscio, who each chipped in two. The Golden Hawks were unable to stop the Fury from sending pucks towards the net, and Whitby eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Fury's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Whitby was helped by Jeremy Wu, who had one goal. Wu scored on the power play 11:48 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. The Fury had gotten the advantage when Trenton's de Concilys was sent off for hooking. Henry Thompson picked up the assist. Patrick McAuliffe also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Ryan Kirkup, Jonathan OHara, and Justin Brand, who contributed one each. The Golden Hawks' Justin Kapelmaster stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Trenton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Feaver rejected 27 shots on goal for Whitby. The Fury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
