Argiropoulos stymies Pickering, St. Michaels wins 2-1

The St. Michaels Buzzers relied on the sparkling performance of George Argiropoulos in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Pickering Panthers.

St. Michaels was led by Matt Pepler, who had one goal. Pepler scored 9:56 into the third period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels. Scott Teskey assisted on the tally.

The Buzzers stifled Pickering's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. Michaels forced the Panthers goalie Jordan Cartney to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

St. Michaels also got a goal from Thomas Beretta as well. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Ian Edmondson, who had one and Joseph Berton, who had two.

Pickering did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Panthers average 3.6 goals per game. Pickering kept the Buzzers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Argiropoulos made 42 saves on 43 shots.

The Panthers were led by Kevin Dimagno, who scored the team's only goal. Dimagno scored 4:56 into the second period to make the score 1-1. John Hudgin picked up the assist.

St. Michaels incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Buzzers, Beretta was ejected from the game. Pickering's Cartney stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Panthers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
