North York squeaks by Toronto Patriots, 3-2

The game between the North York Rangers and the Toronto Patriots Patriots was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end North York emerged with a 3-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Gabriel Valenzuela's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Valenzuela had a great game for the Rangers, netting two goals.

North York additionally got points from Matthew Whittaker, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Ryan Takamatsu, who had three.

Toronto Patriots put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow North York to score on any of its three power plays. The Rangers were unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto Patriots eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

The Patriots were helped by Connor Beck, who registered one goal. Beck scored 8:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Patriots. Nico Gonzalez assisted on the tally. Niko Kovachis also scored for Toronto Patriots. In addition, Toronto Patriots received assists from Beau Browning, Brett Markham, and Jacob Hayhurst, who each chipped in one.

Gianluca Baggetta rejected 29 shots on goal for North York. The Rangers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mathew Robson recorded 27 saves for Toronto Patriots. The Patriots incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
