Georgetown beats Oakville 3-1 after comeback scare

The Oakville Blades tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Georgetown Raiders would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

Georgetown took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have Oakville storm back on a Brandon Hughes goal 18:14 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Raiders were led by John Adams, who racked up one goal. Adams scored on the power play 10:15 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown. Georgetown had gained a power play chance when Greg Campbell was whistled for tripping. Steve Hladin picked up the assist.

The Blades were unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Georgetown eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Raiders got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Eric Eustace also scored for Georgetown. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Jordan Brown, Anthony Marra, and Richard Court, who contributed one each.

Oakville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blades put an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Tanner Shaw and Ryan Burns, who each chipped in one.

Georgetown's Marc Williams stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Daniel Mannella made 36 saves for Oakville on 38 shots. The Blades incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Oakville, Sean Kohler was ejected from the game.
