The Pickering Panthers and the Orangeville Flyers skate to 4-4 (OT) tie

Pickering found itself down againt Orangeville, but battled back to secure to a tie.

The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Pickering forced the Flyers goalie Nicholas Latinovich to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots.

The Panthers were helped by Doug Carter, who tallied two goals and one assist. Carter scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:29 into the third period to make the score 4-1 Orangeville. Riley Devine picked up the assist. Carter's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Orangeville with 12:36 left in the third period. Pickering had taken the advantage when Orangeville's Lucas Smilsky got sent off for tripping. Devine provided the assist. Pickering additionally got points from Chris Sekelyk, who also finished with one goal and one assist. BJ Salerno also scored for Pickering. In addition, Pickering received assists from Nicholas Lepone, who had one and Blake Coffey, who had two.

The Flyers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. Orangeville surpassed its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. The Flyers forced Panthers' goalies to work between the pipes, ripping 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Eric Pitcher made 14 stops and Jordan Cartney made 13.

Orangeville also had goals scored by Ian Nichols, who had two and Connor Stack and Darren Nesbitt, who each put in one. More assists for Orangeville came via Colin Rigney, Daniel DeRose, Ryan DaSilva, and Devon Gillham, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 3-for-9 on the power play. For Pickering, Cam Palmer was ejected from the game. Latinovich recorded 45 saves for Orangeville. The Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Anton was ejected from the game.
