Wellington beats Lindsay 3-2 after comeback scareLindsay Recreation Centre Fri, Oct 24, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lindsay Muskies tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Wellington Dukes held on for a 3-2 victory. A goal by Luc Brown put Wellington up 3-1 in the third period, but Lindsay pulled to within one on Austin Brown's tally 9:39 into the third period. The Dukes pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 32 penalty minutes. Wellington stifled the Muskies' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dukes kept Lindsay's goalie busy throughout the game, and Boyd Diclemente made 33 saves on 36 shots. Wellington also got points from Marco Azzano, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Wellington also got a goal from Ben Sokay as well. More assists for Wellington came via Andrew Coupland, Josh Supryka, Joe McKeown, Griffin McCarty, and Nick Devito, who contributed one each. The Muskies' offense rang up 38 shots on Wellington's net. Lindsay's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Muskies finished with 26 penalty minutes. Lindsay was helped by Brock Spear, who tallied one goal. Spear scored 2:27 into the second period to make the score 1-1. John Macdonald assisted on the tally. Taylor Welsh made 36 saves for the Dukes on 38 shots. Wellington registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Muskies registered zero goals on six power play opportunities.
