Mississauga falls to Orangeville in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Alder St. Recreation Centre Sun, Oct 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Lucas Smilsky gave the Orangeville Flyers a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Mississauga Chargers when he scored 4:59 into the extra period. Mississauga could not complete its climb out of a three-goal hole. Orangeville made it 3-0 on a power play goal by Ryan Anton at 13:52 in the second period. The Chargers got to within 3-2 on a goal by Joseph Molinaro at 4:08 in the third period. Smilsky had two goals to lead the Flyers to victory. Orangeville stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Chargers were unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Orangeville eventually piled up 53 shots on goal. Orangeville also got points from Connor Stack, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Orangeville also got a goal from Devon Gillham as well. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Darren Nesbitt, who had one, Ian Nichols, who had two, and Derek Topatigh, who had three. Mississauga forced the Flyers goalie Wyatt Pickrell to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Chargers were led by Vince Figliomeni, who had one goal and two assists. Figliomeni scored 9:27 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Orangeville. Molinaro picked up the assist. Mississauga additionally got points from Molinaro, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Mississauga included Stefano Alonzi and Scott Docherty, who each put in one. More assists for Mississauga came via Phillip Chadder, who had one and Marco Mattina and Austin Broadhurst, who contributed two each. Pickrell recorded 32 saves for Orangeville. The Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Alex Lepore rejected 48 shots on goal for Mississauga. The Chargers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
