North York wins tough contest against St. Michaels, 4-2

The game between the North York Rangers and the St. Michaels Buzzers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end North York emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Rangers gained the winning advantage on a goal by Gabriel Valenzuela 6:44 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Michael Morgan had a great game for North York, netting two goals. Morgan scored at 1:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York and again while 2:43 into the second to make the score 2-2.

St. Michaels was unable to stop the Rangers from sending pucks towards the net, and North York eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

North York also got a goal from Kyle Cochrane as well. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Ted Hunt, who had two and Kyle Clarke, Max Novick, Christian Zanetti, Ryan Takamatsu, and Nick Zanette, who each chipped in one.

The Buzzers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Rangers to score on any of their three power plays. St. Michaels' offense rang up 40 shots on North York's net.

The Buzzers were helped by Thomas Beretta, who registered one goal. Beretta scored on the power play 8:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. St. Michaels earned a power play opportunity when Anthony Paveglio was put in the box for interference. Ian Edmondson assisted on the tally. Ashur Elliot also scored for St. Michaels. More assists for St. Michaels came via Marcel Fatovic and Joseph Berton, who contributed one each.

Gianluca Baggetta made 38 saves for the Rangers on 40 shots. North York incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Buzzers' Mark Manolescu stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. St. Michaels incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
