Buffalo beats Orangeville 3-0 as Skidmore gains shutout

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres used a sparkling performance by Nate Skidmore to take down the Orangeville Flyers, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Buffalo's 3-0 shutout victory.

The Jr. Sabres' penalty kill excelled, as Buffalo gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Jr. Sabres stifled Orangeville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Buffalo forced the Flyers goalie Wyatt Pickrell to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

The Jr. Sabres were led by Chris Moses, who had one goal and one assist. Moses scored on the power play 15:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Buffalo earned a power play opportunity when Derek Topatigh was put in the box for kneeing. Daniel Lafontaine provided the assist. Buffalo additionally got points from Zach Evancho, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Kenny Tencza as well. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Aaron Reinig, who had one.

Orangeville's offense operated below its season average. The Flyers average 3.7 goals per game. Orangeville's offense rang up 36 shots on the Jr. Sabres' net.

Skidmore rejected 36 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Pickrell recorded 34 saves for the Flyers. Orangeville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
