Hogg nets hat trick, leads Cobourg to 4-2 win over Milton

A hat trick by Connor Hogg was the highlight in Cougars' 4-2 win against the Milton Icehawks.

Hogg got on the scoresheet 15:09 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:35 into the second and at 12:24 into the third.

The Cobourg Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Milton power plays. Milton was unable to stop Cobourg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 50 shots on goal.

Cobourg additionally got points from Taylor Gauld, who also racked up one goal and two assists. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Connor Armour, who had two and Rylee McKinnon, Mitchell Gibson, and Dawson Theede, who each chipped in one.

The Icehawks were helped by Mitch Graham, who registered one goal. Graham scored 13:54 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cobourg. Johnathon Schaefer picked up the assist. Alex Riche also scored for Milton. More assists for Milton came via Jake Baird and Jordan Anderson, who contributed one each.

Stefano Durante recorded 24 saves for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Milton's Tyler Lewis stopped 46 shots out of the 49 that he faced. The Icehawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
