The Stouffville Spirit's Tyson Bruce scored 2:19 into overtime to beat the Pickering Panthers, 6-5 (OT). Stouffville almost relinquished a four-score lead. The Spirit made it 5-1 on a goal by James Mense-Dietrich at 8:10 in the second period. Pickering pulled to within 5-4 on a power play goal by Nicholas Lepone at 10:40 in the third period. The Panthers' power play was ineffective against Stouffville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Spirit forced Panthers' goaltenders to work without much rest, racking up 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. Eric Pitcher made 18 stops and Jordan Cartney made 19. Stouffville outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Spirit average 3.3 goals per contest. Stouffville was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 30 penalty minutes. Stouffville additionally got points from Mense-Dietrich, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Alex Gilmour, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stouffville included Colton Sansom and Christopher Brill-Morgan, who each put in one. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Nick Thomakos, who had two and Brodie Tutton, Spencer Roberts, Chad Burrows, Matthew Dunlop, and Kyler Challis, who each chipped in one. Pickering kept the Spirit's goalie busy throughout the game, and Aaron Taylor made 28 saves on 33 shots. Pickering also got points from Lucas Condotta, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Pickering also had goals scored by Kevin Dimagno, BJ Salerno, and Riley Devine, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pickering came via Joseph Mitchell, who had three and Cam Palmer and Mark Tenuta, who contributed one each. Stouffville registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Panthers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
