Mississauga pulls away in second, rolls over Lindsay, 7-0

The Mississauga Chargers used a four-goal second period to put away the Lindsay Muskies, 7-0.

Joseph Molinaro had two goals and one assist to lead Mississauga. Molinaro scored the first of his two goals at 19:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississauga. Vince Figliomeni provided the assist. Molinaro's next tally made the score 2-0 Mississauga with 12:49 left in the second period. The Chargers had gained a power play chance when Austin Eastman was whistled for holding stick. Austin Broadhurst picked up the assist.

Mississauga was boosted by Alex Lepore, who turned in a shutout with 44 saves. Lepore certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.39 entering the contest.

The Chargers forced Lindsay's goaltenders to work all game long, taking 31 shots and forcing 24 saves. Boyd Diclemente made 16 stops and Brett Chandler made eight. Mississauga surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Chargers have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Mississauga was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. The defensemen of the Chargers were also effective in the Muskies' zone, and came away with two goals.

Mississauga also got points from Zach Sternbach, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Broadhurst, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Mississauga also had goals scored by Scott Docherty and Jordan Addesi, who each put in one. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Aaron Dutra, who had two and Domenic Commisso, Marco Mattina, Phillip Chadder, and Daniel Volpe, who contributed one each.

Lindsay was held below its usual level of production. The Muskies average 3.3 goals per game. Lindsay's offense rang up 44 shots on Mississauga's net.

The Chargers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Muskies incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
