Scanlan's big game bests Newmarket in 6-2 Lindsay win

Behind a great game by Jack Scanlan, who had two goals and two assists, the Lindsay Muskies defeated the Newmarket Hurricanes, 6-2.

Scanlan found the back of the net 17:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lindsay and again while on the power play 15:14 into the third to make the score 4-2 Lindsay.

Lindsay kept Newmarket's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Richardson made 32 saves on 38 shots. The Muskies bested their season scoring average. Lindsay has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. The Muskies was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Lindsay also got points from Matthew Marchese, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Logan DeNoble, who also had one goal and one assist. Lindsay also had goals scored by Mathew Lewis and Austin Eastman, who scored one goal each. More assists for Lindsay came via Connor Annett, who had two and James Allen and Owen Barnett, who contributed one each.

The Hurricanes forced Lindsay goalie Boyd Diclemente to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Newmarket was helped by Joseph Mizzi, who registered one goal. Mizzi scored on the power play 2:05 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Hurricanes had gotten the advantage when the Muskies' Michael Spataro was sent off for interference. Nik Coric picked up the assist. Taylor Joseph also scored for Newmarket. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Curtis Harvey, Cameron Nicoll, and Mackenzie OMahony, who each chipped in one.

Lindsay's Diclemente stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Muskies incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Newmarket incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
