Milton outlasts Kingston, 5-3

The Milton Icehawks gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Kingston Voyageurs.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Josh Chiarot at 18:44 of the third period.

Chiarot was all over the ice for Milton, as he grabbed two goals in the win.

The Icehawks' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Kingston's power play unit. Milton got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Milton additionally got points from Jake Baird, who also had one goal and one assist. Milton also got a goal from Alex Riche as well. In addition, Milton received assists from Anthony Baxter, who had two and Johnathon Schaefer, Lucas Martellacci, and Chris Poletek, who each chipped in one.

The Voyageurs' offense rang up 37 shots on the Icehawks' net.

Kingston was led by Adam Brady, who finished with two goals and one assist. Brady scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kingston. The Voyageurs had gotten the advantage when Milton's Dawson Shackelton was sent off for head contact. Cole Bolton picked up the assist. Brady's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Kingston with 13:47 left in the third period. A high sticking penalty on Poletek had put Kingston on the power play. Matt Hoover provided the assist. Kingston also got points from Bolton, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Kingston came via Ryan Watson and Jaylon Gorman, who contributed one each.

The Icehawks' Tyler Lewis stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Milton totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 3-for-6 on the power play. Team's Shackelton and Jordan Anderson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Matt Penta rejected 15 shots on goal for the Voyageurs. Kingston incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
