Georgetown uses fast start to beat Stouffville, 9-2Stouffville Arena Sat, Oct 04, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit fell behind early, and the Georgetown Raiders kept piling on the points on the way to a 9-2 victory. Steve Hladin had four goals and two assists to lead Georgetown. Hladin notched his first tally 3:03 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:07 into the first, at 5:28 into the second, and at 7:03 into the third. The Raiders pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 33 penalty minutes. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 4:20 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Georgetown forced Stouffville's goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 35 shots and forcing 26 saves. Conor McCollum made 14 stops and Aaron Taylor made 12. The Raiders' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Stouffville power plays. Georgetown surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Raiders average 4.5 goals per game. Georgetown additionally got points from Liam Clare, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Anthony Marra, who also had one goal and three assists, and John Adams, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Georgetown included Richard Court and Jack Jacome, who each put in one. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Jordan Brown, who had two and Eric Eustace, Brendan Jacome, and Blake Jones, who each chipped in one. The Spirit forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Stouffville surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Spirit's offense rang up 34 shots on Georgetown's net. Stouffville also had goals scored by Brodie Tutton and Tyson Bruce, who scored one goal each. More assists for Stouffville came via Chad Burrows, James Mense-Dietrich, Alex Gilmour, and Nick Thomakos, who contributed one each. Jack LaFontaine made 32 saves for the Raiders on 34 shots. Georgetown registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Jacome and Francois Cote were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Stouffville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joseph Deveny was ejected from the game.
