Girduckis leads Wellington over Trenton, 5-2

The Wellington Dukes' Abbott Girduckis had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Trenton Golden Hawks.

Girduckis' tallies came at 2:19 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Wellington and short handed 10:12 into the third to make the score 4-2 Wellington.

Wellington pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Wellington also got points from Joe McKeown, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Wellington included Josh Supryka and Nick Devito, who each put in one. In addition, Wellington received assists from Justin Bean, who had two and Andrew Coupland, Luc Brown, and Dylan Mascarin, who contributed one each.

Trenton was held below its usual level of production. The Golden Hawks average 5.2 goals per game.

Trenton was helped by Aidan Parker, who grabbed one goal. Parker scored 3:09 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wellington. Tyler Donaldson assisted on the tally. Chrisitian Lloyd also scored for Trenton. More assists for Trenton came via Blayne Oliver, Nick Santoro, and Braden Hellems, who each chipped in one.

The Dukes' Taylor Welsh stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Wellington registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Golden Hawks' starting goalie, Riley Brown, made 14 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Justin Kapelmaster, who stopped seven shots. Trenton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
